Tell us a bit about you and your shop
My shop has grown into an interesting mix of chic home items like linens, china, and sewing notions. It all started out on a whim one day when my son was napping. It was late May; I was outside day dreaming over the Lily of the Valley in bloom. My husband was deployed overseas and I needed to do something just for me. So right then and there I got my camera and took pictures of the lilies. I wanted to open a shop for little things, special little touches for around the home.

Where did you get your love of vintage from?
Hands down my Mom! As a child I carefully dusted furniture and polished silver listening to her tell stories of where it came from and who it once belonged too. Many of these items are now in my own home. I’d say my Mom grew up in a family of collectors. My grandfather was known for spoiling her at auctions with old books and horse figurines.

Do you have a vintage obsession, for instance, I am totally addicted to vintage glasses, I have way too many?
Currently, I have a collection of old hand embroideries that came from my great grandfather. He learned embroidery when he came home from the war wounded. So anytime I see old embroideries I think of him, and tend to collect them. Also, floral china!! 

What’s the strangest item you have ever found? I‘ve heard a lot of stories of finding false teeth. I found a collection of real teeth in a small tin inside a sewing basket!

What is your favourite item in your shop?
These charming blue and white dessert plates in the Wild Rose Pattern by Homer Laughlin. I just want to serve birthday cake on them, or muffins on the porch!

Tell us what you love about your favourite era?
I really love old china. Old floral patterns, mismatch dishes and silverware, setting a fancy table.
What advice would you give to people just starting out?
Reach out there, Etsy is a large community of friendly like mined people all willing to help out. Join teams and make connections. 

Is there anything you wished you had done differently? No, I am happy with the way The Little Things Vintage has been progressing!

If you could learn something new what would it be and why?
I would love to learn to quilt. I often say I want to make a quilt ish! Without directions without a class, just jump in and go for it. There isn’t always a right or wrong way of doing things, just do what feels natural.

Where is your most favourite place on Earth?Any beach where I can sit in the sand, feel the warmth of the sun on my face, and watch the waves.

I’m a massive pizza fan, what would be your dream pizza topping?

I love making my own dough. My two year old loves to help and we make a huge mess! Right now we are into finely chopped spinach; we tell him it’s the pizza spice.
